Plastic with a brushed aluminum look does exist in various thickness.  You can find it at any commercial plastic distributor.  I would advise against putting thin guage aluminum on the counter tops, It will dint and scratch.

I recently saw an air stream which was fitted with thin guage aluminum on the wall surfaces, looked great with the hardwood floors.
