Figure you've got not only the external filter, but the lines running
back and forth, therefore the overall capacity is increased by more than
a quart, the filter acts to trap smaller particles than the in-pan filter,
the gauge allows one to monitor any heating, normal or otherwise and makes
one a more
informed driver. However, anyone can argue anything........soooo, my
philosophy is everybody has to do what they think is right. I just happen
to agree with your very astute thought process.
