I think it's a good ides, and I'm going to fit a temp gauge. Also, my partner sez that a good way to flush the transmission fluid is to buy a larger quantity of oil than you need, and using the oil cooler inlet and outlet pipes, at the same time as you change the internal filter, put the inlet pipe in a new container of tranny fluid, and the outlet pipe into an empty container, with the vehicle on axle stands and in gear, flush the fluid through so the entire transmission is flushed, as opposed to draining by removal of the sump (pan), which still leaves fluid in the rest of the system. He also says that adding an additional external filter will only slow down circulation of the fluid if the filter is allowed to become
dirty. (30 years a mechanic, never lost one yet).

So, a thumbs up from this side of the pond then.
