Dear Rich,

Those were all fantastic questions. I wouldn't even want to throw a dart at some of them. I'm not saying don't change your trans fluid, do whatever floats your boat. I just know that if I had a trans temp guage on that severe Desert Pull, I probably would not have overheated.

Go to camping worlds website or master 1998 catalog on page 226. It was a red tag sale item $49.47 and $74 installation. Its a screw on canister type filter that could easily be changed in Mayberry, service
station, or a Fresno, liquor station. In terms of trans type, it doesn't go inside, it is mounted externally and just filters all the fluid that is sent to and thru the trans cooler.

I'm such a dummy and enjoy testing the edge of the envelope. Since I've had the trans rebuilt, I've only towed my Bambi ( 1875 lbs) over every major pass in Colorado except Engineer' pass ( 4wd only) and thru Utah , Idaho with the Wagon Wheel VAC'ers back thru Wyoming, Utah, Arizona (North Rim Grand Canyon), New Mex , and plains of Tex to home here in the piney woods. All of this without a trans cooler,--ohh, I want one, just haven't felt the need. Call me---------Irresponsible, but the GMC is approaching 200 K and I'm taking it to Ohio this summer for the Wagon Wheel and the Int'l. Come park with the VAC'ers, since they treat us like step-children , sometimes we act that way. We're going to rant and rave and demand accomodations.

As Thomas Jefferson said, A little revolution every few years is good for the body politic. Or something like that.
