Fred in Denver,

The original taillights of my trailer were gone when I purchased it in 1994, however someone had replaced them with large, surface mount plastic covers. No matter what I did, these lights were always dim and awkward looking. During my cross-country trip last summer, as I was entering OH on I-70, I found a truck accessories and CB store where they had many different truck lights and styles among other products. I found a set of 4" diameter lights with polished stainless steel rings that I ended up purchasing and mounting. Like you I was hesitant about cutting the skin but am quite happy with the quality look and operation. These lights now appear as if they were always there and are flush with the skin.

Good luck,

Tom Howarth
