Airstream 99 has a pre brushed finish, I have also noticed it on the 98 and97 . Polishing as said is to refinish to a smooth surface then Buff to a shine. The brushed piece I have ( taken from Airstreams Scrape metal bend , Jackson Center) is about a 240/320 Finish. In order to get the shine the Vintage trailers Produce the surface must come up to 2000 Micro. So look at the gap . AT 2000 micro that's is the starting point for the Shine , the smoother you get it the better the shine is with clarity. In order to get a new 99 to pop out the shine , you must re-surface . If you get JOE BOBS POLISHING COMPANY to do it he is going to Burn the skin trying to get the high Speed lapper to a one step refinish it. Burning skins are tricky , you never notice it until it has dropped back in temperature cooling for about 3 hours, its then JOE BOB discovers he has screwed up your Airstream ,What is SOOOO bad now you can see swirls BIG time from the heat and the Auto Parts store polish he used.

I seen on list someone had ask about longevity of the buffed shine ? We train you how to take care of your Airstream you have a choice to listen or not. The polish job should still be popping a shine 3 to 4 years later . We can refinish your AS on a two year program a Discount Pricing . What is very hard for me to get across is , we use Certed aviation polishing compounds . Silicon based products , and ammonia based products are BIG no in Aviation.

I could go on and on with this but close with this , if you have a new 99 and want it polished choose a company that has many years experience in metal re finishing not JOE BOBS.
