Pristine??? What exactly, does that mean??
Remember, it is 29 years old and far since removed from virginity.
If it was stored in the Sun and Humidity and rain and cold and abused yada
yada, it could be just your average coach. Conversely, if it was stored
inside, or protected, or maintained in a reasonable manner, you might be
gettng a time capsule. So many things to consider. I always like this one,----"
why that refrigerator works just fine,--I plugged it in the other day and
it works real good". ( of course, it was 45 degrees outside, and so was
the refrigerator). Hot tip on Dometics, according to factory reps. You
should get at least 12 years from an older dometic before they take the
"downhill slide". If its over 15 years, count on replacement or a rebuild.
New is better, for a Caravel, about $750. If you're on "the trail", what
trail, is it leaking, water or something from the black tank. They had
no grey tank, so thats one thing less to worry about. If you have dents
in the outside skin, remember this, if the metal is below the beltline,
it is a flat sheet fairly easy to replace. Above the beltline, especially
the compound curve segments, front and rear, usually dented from low limbs
while backing into a space or from getting to close to a house roof overhang.
Those segments are very expensive and very difficult to find. You may negotiate
the price down based on the needed body work. Everything else is manageable
usually from local suppliers or Home Depot. Good Luck and I'll give you
a target price bracket based on the info you gave me---------------Carnack-----says------
between $1500 and $9000. Hope you get it!!

I'm hot on the trail of a pristine '70 Caravel. What do you all think it is worth? Anything I should look out for? I'm going to look at it tomorrow.
Thanks,
Patti
