>Good grief why are they doing this to us!!!
Perhaps we should give some understanding to the fact that the satellite
TV reception impacts on others besides RV'ers. It impacts strongly on
the local, fixed site, TV stations that have for years been providing our
communities with television reception. I think it is perfectly understandable
they should try to influence the industry regulators to protect their markets.
Their base for existence is network TV, if they loose that they loose their
business (their advertisers). I for one think they have a greater right
to stay in business then do RV'ers who want network signals for free. RV'ers,
do not have any god given right to receive all or every signal that is
broadcast. If you have an argument take it up with your satelite broadcaster
who sold you the equipment and programs. I know when I have looked into
it, over a year or so ago, two different providers made it pretty clear
they could not
guarantee we could pick up network signals. You should also understand
the RV'ers are not the only folks receiving signals via home disks. Local
communty residents have more receivers then do RV'ers and this is what
bothers the fixed based TV stations and hence their network providers.
This will probably get worked out in time but you can be sure that when
RV'ers are able to get network signals via satellite, without complications,
they will probably have to fee subscribe for it in some
fashion.
