Hunter:

Your message is unclear as to whether you are seen\ing any channels on the satellite receiver.

First, be sure you are looking at the correct satellite! check your azimuth and elevation: the pointing angles of these satellites is very small, and any error results in loss of signal lock. Typical error is that campsite is not level, so your elevation scale on the dish is not correct. Be sure (with a bubble level) that your antenna site is dead level

If you are not getting anything, try getting a piece of coax cable from radio shack, or even look in the stuff that came with the dish stuff, and hook the receiver directly to the antenna downconverter on the dish. See if you see anything. If this works then, the problem is that there is probably a lightning arrester / surge protector in the cable setup of the airstream. These things have what is known as "DC blocking" in them that does not pass the power supply voltage from the receiver up to the antenna downconverter, so no picture!

If this is the case, you will have to follow the incomming cable from the connector on the outside of the RV and find the device and remove it to make things work. It should be close to the connection to the outside and typically has only an input connection, output connection and a ground screw probably connecting to the frame of the trailer. If you find any HAM radio operators in the campground, they can assist you easily.

If still nothing, go back to radio shack and have them check the unit and exchange if necessary. I hope you find a radio shack with somebody that knows something about electronics and satellites.

Product/technical knowledge is not required there, and is sadly lacking in most stores.
