If I may 're-adjust' my position on this, get an analogue meter because they respond faster than the beeps/lights and I want one too; but my schoolboy physics and maths on the focal length of parabolic reflectors says there's more to it than direction and intervening trees, I'm taking odds at 10 to 1 that you bent the arm maybe only ¾ of an inch.
