Dear Ted,

I tried for 3 hours my first time, using 4 different positions, the beeping was driving me crazy. In frustration I detached the LANs (the microphone-like thingy) and hand held it in different positions near the original position. Immediately I got the continuous tone. I think that the arm was not holding the LNSB in the right place, they're kind of flimsy. I bent the arm a bit, and it's been perfect ever since.

Maybe this might work for you, they really are quite tolerant when aiming, when the 'mike' is in place.
