Tom,
The bathroom is not origional - as far as I can tell it is a very early
addition with airstream parts, probably after one trip to a state park
that didn't have a toilet and the wife went on strike. You can tell that
the bath is added by the rivets - they are flat for the bathroom on the
exterior, not domed. The bath looks dealer-installed rather than owner-made
since it is all factory Airstream items. Incidentally, the bath is to the
right of the door as you enter and there is another closet along the driver's
side wall, so I'm not sure if the bath was installed in another existing
closet, the rivets say no.
I actually may install a shower, but we'll see about that. If I do
it will be with shower parts from the era. My biggest problem with restoration
is the two ruined front panels that a suicidal deer
remodeled on my trip home from Richmond after purchasing it. I'll probably
get replacements from "Uncle Jim" and buy the rivet shaver etc. when I
do it this spring. I am able to leave trailers without amenities
longer than most because I tow with a '96 BVan that has everything so if
a system goes down in an antique, it's covered in the van. I want to get
another tow vehicle though, and really need to have all the trailer systems
working and safe - Form and Function!
