I wonder how you get the old caulking and some silicone off to replace with new Vulkem?
The Vuklem is kind of like hard puddy and I remove it with a sharp object. I like a wood chisel and sneak carefully under it and pry it up. It is tough stuff but surprisingly even after years it still has a tiny
bit of elasticity still in it. I haven't had to remove large amount of silicone. In small amounts I have carefully scraped it off with soft pointed object such as wood dowel. Some one suggested putting peanut butter on the silicone but havn't heard of any successes and I haven't needed to try it since I heard this.

At one time Jim Weston was going to check out what the aircraft industry might have for such purposes but if he said I have missed it. Silicone is a bitch and I don't use it on much of anything anymore that can be seen. It collects dirt worse then a carpet and is hard to clean and even
harder to remove. It is not good for aluminum.
