I also had teak parquet installed after removing the carpet and my
impression was that the teak panels were no heavier than the original
carpet and pad were. It looks great and has given no problems for two
years. My process was to glue the panels directly to the plywood
underflooring. I use throw rugs on top of the teak as it would otherwise be
slippery going.
