Clark,

I agree with your comments.

I also did my own install, 84 chev 6.2 liter with 4.10 gears. 4 speed manual. Prior to the install the truck was almost unacceptable due to noise in the cab, apparently telegraphed up the shifter and a big hole between 2nd and direct making it necessary to climb hills at 35 in second. (not counting creeper gear with these numbers)

Before purchasing the unit I confirmed it could be changed to other vehicles with an adapter change.

The unit turned the truck into an acceptable performer. Before cutting the driveshaft I obtained another one from a junkyard. so I could remove the unit and put it on my next tow vehicle. I did have some problems with the electronics. The first box failed before getting out of the garage. After a year I started having trouble with sudden unexpected downshifts. Not pleasant at 60 mph. An upgraded control box fixed the problem. The fuel economy improved by 3 to 6 mpg and the noise went way down.

Both the sales staff and the technical people were excellent and the first replacement control was shipped overnight at their expense.
