In my case, a 6.2 non turbo diesel GM Diesel with 4 speed manual The fuel economy empty improved consistently from 3 to 5 MPG. The same was true towing, peaking as high as 19 with the 54 Airstream and 17 to 18 with the 70 (4800 lbs)

Ths was the best benefit. Before installation we could not talk with out shouting. After installation I discovered the truck had a wind noise problem. Took 12 years to find that out.

RPM at 60 dropped from 2800 to 2200 which fit the Torque curve perfectly.

Oil consumption dropped dramatically, but I also changed oil brands at the same time so there could be more factors here.

I agree completely

Mine cost $2200 in oct 96. I think they have gone up since then . Not cheap, but made an unacceptable truck into an acceptable machine.

They can be converted to another vehicle by changing the housing adapter and a complete rebuild is available for around $500 ( from phone call to GV last week)

Clark,

Tell me more about the conversion U joint. The chev did not require it but I think I have to do something as part of converting it to my Dodge. Do you have any parts numbers or other info to give me a starting point with my NAPA store? If my new adapter shows up in the next couple days this will be my year end project.
