Can you also connect with the Internet via Ham Radio, Byron? If I get the Radio Shack book will it tell me all about making email/Internet connections?
Yes, you can get email via ham radio PACTOR connections as well as by satellite connections and, to a lesser extent perhaps, by way of terrestrial packet radio connections.

So, there's at least three ways.

PACTOR is the way I'm presently doing it, and I like it a lot, especially when I'm nowhere near a phone line.

The Radio Shack book (if you're referring to "Now You're Talking, which I recommend) will NOT say much, if anything, about email/internet connectivity.

A good resource for PACTOR connections would be "Your HF Digital Companion" which is available for ten bucks plus shipping at www.arrl.org
