Correction....phone number works, said they had no idea what was wrong this morning. Anyhow they referred me to Inland RV in Ca for any questions on pre 68 (which I have a 63). Looks like I'm going to try to locate a local place to get the backing plate and armature I need to convert over to electric brakes. Just thought I would let you all know.
??? Anyone have brand and part numbers for the parts I need?
Thanks

What we ask for at our local supplier is a "loaded backing plate". This means the backing plate with brakes, springs, etc. already mounted. The predominate brands are Hayes and Dexter. Both can fit. Typically there are two sizes, 10x2 and 12x2 referring to the width of the backing plate and the width of the brake shoe. Balancing labor against the cost of parts we have
found it much less expensive to the customer to use the loaded backing plates. It also assures him or her that all the parts are new, no weak links. You will also need to get new hub and drum assemblies. These are the outer part of the wheel assembly with the electric brake stator mounted to the inside of the brake drum. The spindle inner and outer bearings are mounted in this assembly as well. You would be well advised to take a set of
the bearings along to insure that the new bearings are matched to the spindle size you have.
