Hi Doug,

Sandi and I are licensed KF4BLL (general) me, KF4BLM (tech plus) Sandi. If you look us up in Buckmaster, you will discover that we live in different towns with the same street address. Our little incorporated town at 5506 feet is the town highest in altitude east of the Mississippi. Golf in the summer time (its cool up here, nice club), skiing in winter at Ski Beech.

The Post Office however, is at the foot of Beech Mountain in the small college town of Banner Elk, NC. FCC made their own election. We do not have HF mobile at the moment, but plan on mounting either ICOM 706 Mk2G w/vhf&uhf or Yaesu new FT 100, Field Commander, same coverage. At home we get by just fine with an old (mint)Drake TR 4, barefoot, G5RV 132' ant prox 40' up in trees w/MFJ 969 ant tuner. Altitude!! Use Yaesu FT 2500M (2), one in truck (my choice of prime mover) and the other in the shack w/Cushcraft 4 element beam on Radio Shack TV rotor. On vhf can cover parts of 7 states routinely, no amp. Altitude!! Has anybody out there worked out a way to shift the ICOM 706 say from vehicle to inside Airstream. We plan on setting up our laptop and peripherals and radios & TV/VCR in a remodeled center (now twin) bedroom.

We want to convert to some type of double and the be able to have a desk area in the area of the removed other twin. Any ideas on creating the new double (fold-up out of the way, but not be a monumental pain in the wahzoo to make for night or put away in the morning) type of bed. Incidentally we love our 6" dense foam mattresses.

Good idea, this.
