I was wondering about part of Ted's question myself. Could amateur radio get you online to the internet if you wanted to? Suppose you were in the boonies where there were no telephones to pick up?

And that would be by way of the Amateur Radio Service.

And, in my Airstream, I don't have a telephone. But I do have Amateur Radio connectivity.

Now, if by "online", you mean direct connectivity to the web for surfing purposes, that's a LOT harder, and I would go out on a limb and state that you should not count on that occurring by way of the Amateur Radio Service at this point in time, although in some VERY limited communities, that is in fact occurring today.
