I just switched to ATT digital. I haven't done any computer
transmission on it and am not even sure how that works, Well, that's the $64000 question! I have a laptop with a built-in
cellular modem, but the only time I used it, I was only getting something like a 300 baud connection. How much better the digital system can be, I dunno.
(I remember being online with my Radio Shack model 100, and I could read text as it downloaded at 300 baud!)
I suspect we won't be able to get good wireless data speeds until Mr. Gates gets his satellite network going, but I have great hopes.
Please keep the list apprised of your experiences with this...it's a very important thread, IMO.

We're hitting the highway next year, so you guys with the five and seven years have got a lot of technology in between times. A suggestion though, go get your amateur radio license. Only $6.35 from the FCC. Check with a Ham or your local community college for all the class info. Then you can get voice commo at
zero cents per minute and a 1200 (soon 9600) baud, for free!
