For your information:

The tailights on my '56 bubble were rusted out (inside and out). Trying to find a replacement that would fit the 1 1/2" space between outer and inner walls was getting discouraging. NAPA Auto Parts store had a perfect fit of a light encased in rubber and called Elastrometric Rubber Cushion Lamp, model #'s 4522 (two wire) and 4521 (single wire), depth of 1 3/8". At 4 1/2 inches they fit perfectly and look good. Yes the outer ring and the housing are all rubber and lens pops out for bulb changing. Around $17.00 eas. Some day maybe I can fabricate a chromed exterior rim to match original or maybe I can find a trim rim somewhere.

Its one alternative.
