Hi folks:

Yesterday's cry for help (minor thing, water pump "quit") turned out to be a failure, but of a different sort. And it begs a question for the gang assembled here:

While standing in the shower, all soaped up (of course), the water quit. Hmmm... no sound from the pump. Although I did have a vague sense that I was hearing something not quite right from the pump just before the water died.

As I said yesterday, I had examined the LEDs and the pump's fuse. All was well. Several of you sent me messages (thanks!) suggesting that I should check the switch as well as the voltage to the pump itself.

As it turns out, I didn't have to do that. As I was thinking about it during my work day (and scratching my head, the shampoo was starting to dry, methinks...) it struck me that maybe the fresh water tank was dry. Hmmm...

Got back to the trailer in the afternoon, popped off the eight screws holding the wooden shelving over the fresh water tank, and peered inside. Not a drop of water.

But, wait, the LEDs were all on! Everything's cool, right? Yah, well try telling that to the pump. Bone dry.

So now I have an issue for the dealer. Why in heck wouldn't he have checked the operation of those things before providing delivery? Or.... if the circuitry for the sensors is a known problem, why didn't he mention some caution on my part, just in case? Anybody know what the likely cause of the malfunctioning sensors is? All three LEDs stay on WITH water, and withOUT water. And you can bet that I'm already designing up a much more elegant battery voltage system. I mean, gimmee a break, an LED for "12", "11" and "10"? Yargh!!

Anyway, with all clouds having some interesting linings, the whole episode gave me a much-needed chance to swat away at some of the fear that still lingers from the hitching, backing, and moving the trailer "experience". This was the third time that I'd hitched up by myself and, by golly, I seem to be getting the hang of it.

Best regards,
