A coleman lantern mantle will work, but will almost always break when driving. The HD RV mantle from Cabela's will withstand all but bad bumps.

I agree that the heavy duty Humphrey brand mantles are better That being said, I towed over 5000 miles this summer on one Coleman mantle, and have over 2000 miles on the second one. Often mantle breakage is an indicator of out of balance or out of round tires or other vibration sources. Over the years, whenever I started finding the mantle on the floor after a couple hundred
miles it pointed to a tire problem.
