Would a small generator like the Honda 350 watt or 650 watt units
provide enough AC to run the converter under the couch? I would like to plug it into the power cord in the back of my Airstream. This would in turn charge the battery. Or, should I use the DC charge cables that come with the generator. This would be more cumbersome because I would have to remove the battery and its container under the couch. What do you think? I am quite impressed with the Honda generators because of their quality and quietness.
The maximum draw on the converter is 5 amps AC or about 550 watts. Unless the battery is very dead or a lot of DC stuff is turned on in the coach the converter will start with much less draw. Steve's idea to make an adapter to charge the battery using the charge line is an excellant one. If you power the converter and let it do the charging it will not charge as quickly as
the generator charger section.
