I guess I don't fully understand the question... Do you just want something to charge the battery??? or do you have additional plans in mind as well --- like running the airconditioner.....

If all you want to do is charge the battery... then perhaps plugging your tow rig into the trailers pigtail and letting your alternator charge the battery would be good enough. --- that is providing your pigtail is set up to trickle some juice back to the converter (some converters have battery chargers in the converter unit).

I have a honda 900 watt generator --- it will run 1 or two appliances reasonable well.... However,,, It does not have enough power to run the A/C and or the micro -- for that I would consider buying at least a 2800-4000 watt generator....

I plug the shore power line into the generator...
